Connecting with Music
This spring, I became a university student, and I joined a wind ensemble. I had been a member of a wind ensemble club since I was a junior high school student.
My wind ensemble’s members are not only university students, but also members of the general public, so it is a very precious experience for me to play with adults because we can meet people who we would not otherwise have a relationship with in our daily lives. But, we have one thing in common - we like music. I think this is quite wonderful.
The ensemble members have a varied number of years of experience, skill, and ways to experiment with their instrument. Therefore, I was frustrated many times because my skills are inferior, but I was able to get a lot of advice from the adults. They broadened my horizons a lot.
Of course, we usually talk about music, but I can also hear about other things, such as their work, their life, and their job hunting. Thus, communication in the wind ensemble is also a place to gather a wide range of information helpful for me.
The meetings with these members who gather for a common hobby gives my life color. In addition, meeting with people who listened to our performance are more precious connections with music. The wind ensemble is a very comfortable circle for me. The many connections are my treasure.
音楽でつながる
今年の四月から大学生になり、中学生の頃からずっと続けてきた吹奏楽を続けるため吹奏楽団に入団しました。私が入った吹奏楽団は大学生だけでなく社会人の方々も所属しているもので、大人の方々と一緒に演奏をすることは私にとって大変貴重な経験となっています。吹奏楽団に所属していると、普段の生活では関わることの無いようなたくさんの大人の方々とも、音楽が好きというたった一つの共通点で出会うことができます。
団員はそれぞれ楽器の経験年数も技量も経験値も異なるため、自分の演奏が思うようにいかず悔しい思いをすることも何度もありました。しかし行き詰った時などに親身になってアドバイスをしてくださる方の存在に何度も助けられ、以前よりも視野が広くなったように思います。楽団の方々とはもちろん音楽のことについて話すことが多いですが、そのほかにも仕事の話や大学や終活についてなどの様々な体験談も聞くことができ、楽団は多方面に渡る情報収集の場ともなっています。
共通の趣味で集まる仲間との出会いは、私の人生に彩を与え、また私たちの演奏を聴いてくださるすべての人々との出会いも大切な繋がりとなります。私にとって楽団は、私の大切な居場所の一つになりました。これからも音楽を通してできたこの繋がりを大切にしていきたいです。
