After entering university, I joined the theater club. I want to share with you the actual experience I had staging a play in the theater club.

First, we conducted meetings a few months before the performance. Based on the ideas from these conferences, we created wiring and stage diagram plans.

Then, we went to the theater 1 week before the show for preparations. This included building the stage, setting the wiring and lighting, and countless other things that needed to be done. What surprised me is that from the time I entered the theater to the end of the show, it’s really hard work. We worked in the theater from morning to night. And when progress was not good, we stayed overnight at the theater and worked late into the night and early morning. I have seen many friends quit because it's mentally and physically exhausting. It’s thanks to the other club members that I was able to continue. When I saw the actors rehearsing and the stage crew working so hard, I felt something more important than being tired. I felt I wanted to make this performance a success.

After this painful, but more than enjoyable week, in the end, the curtain finally rose. The actors stood on the stage, the lights illuminated, the sounds resonated, and all our efforts came together. Then, for the first time, the play was complete. This feeling of accomplishment I feel is something that can only be experienced by actually doing it.

In the future, I will not be involved in the theater. However, I’m confident that the stage set I created with the club members will be a treasure I will never forget. Therefore, I would like to continue to do theater with my friends until I graduate.

私は大学に入学後、演劇サークルに入りました。私が入った劇団で実際に体験した、演劇作りを紹介します。
まず、公演を行う数ヶ月前から様々な分野での会議を行います。それを元に、実際の配線や舞台の図案などの資料などを作成します。
次に、公演の1週間前に実際に劇場に行き、舞台を建てたり、配線をしたりなどの準備を行います。入ってみてから驚いたのですが、劇場入りから全ての公演の終演までの期間が本当に激務です。朝から晩まで劇場にこもって作業をし、進捗が良くない時は劇場に泊まって深夜作業をする場合もあります。精神的にも肉体的にもとても疲れるため、辞めてしまう子も多く見てきました。そんな中でも私が続けられているのは何よりも仲間のおかげです。稽古をしている役者や一つの舞台を完成させようと頑張っている仲間を見ていると、疲れよりも「この公演を成功させたい」という気持ちでいっぱいになります。
この、辛くて、でもそれ以上に楽しい1週間を経て、最後にやっと幕は上がります。
みんなが作った舞台に役者が立ち、照明が照らして、音が響いて、さまざまな全員の努力が一つになったとき、初めて演劇は完成します。この達成感といったら格別で、本当にここでしか味わえないものだと思います。
今後私は歳をいくつか重ね、演劇を作る側から離れてしまうでしょう。しかし、私が仲間達と作った舞台は、一生忘れない大事な宝物になると確信しています。だから、今しかできないこの仲間たちとの演劇を、引退という終わりが来るまで続けていきたいです。
