Last month, I went to my junior high school alma mater for practice teaching. I was very nervous, but I was able to finish the training successfully with the support of many people including the schoolteacher. At this time, I would like to write about what I learned and did in the practice teaching.
　I taught English at my old junior high school. At first, I was worried about my English pronunciation, but after a lot of practice, I became able to speak confidently without looking at the script. I had devised ways to check answers in pairs and incorporate activities to have students teach each other to increase the dialogues between themselves. Also, I was able to share the opinions of the students as a whole by using the latest Information and Communication Technology tools, such as electronic blackboards and digital textbooks.
　Other than the subject, the work that impressed me was the exchange of "contact books" that record students’ daily life. I took about an hour every day to reply to the messages written by the students. In the diary, various contents were written, such as what they learned that day, what they enjoyed during the day and their hobbies. The diary was a wonderful tool to get to know everyone’s individuality and so was an important tool for understanding students.
　School education has changed a lot from what we have experienced after COVID-19. Therefore, every day has new things to learn. Also, when I returned to my alma mater as a teacher, I learned a lot from a perspective that I had not noticed before.

　私は先月、母校の中学校へ教育実習に行ってきました。とても緊張して、不安もありましたが学校の先生をはじめ沢山の方に支えていただき無事に実習を終えることが出来ました。今回は、私が教育実習で学んだことや行ったことを書きたいと思います。
　私は英文学科なので、担当教科は英語でした。初めは緊張のあまり、簡単な英語の発音も不安でしたが、徐々に慣れてくると用意した台本を見ずに発話できることも増えました。毎回の授業を組み立てる上では、生徒同士の対話を重視する学校教育の難しさを実感しました。教師が一方的に話すだけの授業にならないように、ペアで答えを確認したり、教え合う活動を取り入れたり工夫しました。また、電子黒板を使ってグループの意見を全体で共有したり、デジタル教科書で文法の解説を行ったりと、具体的なICTの活用方法も学ぶことができました。
　教科以外で、印象深かった業務は、自身の日常を記録する「連絡帳」のやりとりです。連絡帳には、授業の宿題や提出物のほかに、毎日ひとこと日記を書く欄があります。生徒はこの連絡帳を毎日提出することになっています。私は、生徒が書いたひとこと日記に対する返信を毎日約1時間かけて行いました。日記の中には、その日に学んだことや、一日の中で楽しかったこと、印象に残ったことから趣味のことまで様々な内容が書かれていました。日記は、
　ひとりひとりの個性が光る興味深いもので、生徒を理解するための重要なツールでした。さらに、クラスにいる時は、会話できる生徒が限られることが多かったのですが、連絡帳では皆と言葉を交わすことができました。
学校教育は、コロナ禍を経て、私たちが経験したものとは大きく変わっていることが沢山ありました。そのため、毎日が新しいことの連続でした。また、教師として母校に戻ると、今までは気づかなかった視点での学びが多くありました。
