夏でもキャンパスに行ったほうがいいワケ

I am studying hard to take the civil service exam next year. Even though my father recommended becoming a civil servant, I think being doing clerical work seems to suit me. However, studying at home is boring, so I decided to study at the university library, which is close to my home.
I entered the library and looked around the floor from my seat; at the end of July, most of the seats were filled with students who were busy with their final assignments, but in August there were only a few students. I could hear the librarian talking and working, but I didn't feel it was noisy.
While I was studying using a workbook, it was time for lunch. I thought it would be empty, so I decided to eat at the cafeteria, which I rarely go to. The line to order was short, and I was able to order smoothly. I ordered a bowl of fried chicken and a donut. There were students chatting and enjoying their meals, and a male teacher I had never seen before.
I had a PDF I wanted to print, so next I headed to the computer room. The printers at the university print beautifully, and the image quality is nothing compared to most printers at home. In the room, one student was clacking away at a keyboard. It was an indescribable sensation to hear a single sound echo throughout the spacious computer room.
It was late at night, and I was hungry, so I left through the school gate as usual. That day, I could feel a different atmosphere on campus. Normally, campuses are dead during summer break, but I think students should take advantage of a less crowded campus. I am in introvert, so a quiet campus suits me. If you are an introvert like me, then being on campus during summer will feel like heaven.

　私は来年の公務員試験に向けて、熱心に勉強しています。父から公務員になることを勧められたことがあり、確かに自分には事務職が合っていると思っています。しかし、家で勉強するのは退屈なので、家から近い大学の図書館で勉強することにしました。
　図書館に入り、自分の席からフロアを見渡しました。7月末は期末課題に追われる学生でほとんどの席が埋まっていたのですが、この時期8月は数人しかいませんでした。司書さんの話し声や仕事の声が聞こえましたが、それをうるさいとは感じませんでした。
　参考書を使って勉強していると、昼食の時間になりました。きっと空いているだろうと思い、普段めったに行くことのない学食で食事をすることにしました。注文の列は短く、スムーズに頼むことができました。私は鶏の竜田揚げ丼とドーナツを注文しました。学食の席には談笑しながら食事を楽しむ学生たちや、見たこともない男の先生がいました。
　印刷したいPDFがあったので、次にコンピュータ演習室に向かいました。大学のプリンターは綺麗に印刷することができ、画質は家のプリンターの比ではありません。演習室では、一人の学生がキーボードをカチャカチャと叩いていました。一つの音が広々とした演習室に響き渡るのは何とも言えない感覚でした。
　夕方になり、お腹も空いたので、いつものように校門をくぐって帰りました。その日、キャンパスにはいつもとは違った雰囲気が漂っていました。通常、夏休み中のキャンパスは閑散としていますが、学生は人の少ないキャンパスをぜひ利用すべきだと思っています。私は内気な人間なので、静かなキャンパスは私に合っています。もしあなたが私のような内向的な性格なら、夏のキャンパスは天国のように感じることでしょう。
