福島での夏

I took a course called "field study in university". In this class, I had to stay at "Nandabe Village" in Koriyama City, Fukushima from August 27th to 29th. This was a new experience for me because the region is very rural.
Interacting with the locals was an unforgettable memory during the rural stay.
What left the greatest impression on me most was the discussion about the Tohoku earthquake. I heard about the current situation in Fukushima. 12 years have passed since the Tohoku earthquake. I listened to their stories, and I realized the difference between the media and reality. The media tells people that Fukushima is still dangerous, but that wasn’t my experience. The local people shared with me how to be prepared for a major earthquake. It made me think that I should never forget this earthquake. Throughout this discussion, I recognized the importance of face-to-face discussion, and I thought we should not believe everything we see on the news.
Moreover, we depended on engagement with the locals through agricultural experiences. In my agricultural experience, I noticed the sweetness of the vegetables. When I picked and ate tomatoes, I realized that they were so fresh and delicious. We made pizza, curry, and mochi using our picked vegetables. The experience of cooking and eating our vegetables made me able to appreciate the meal more. And I was able to experience a lot of abundant nature that I couldn’t experience in the city.
These 3 days have become unforgettable experiences for me. I felt the joy of learning and communicating with the locals. During the 3 days, I played a lot, ate, and studied. I love Fukushima, and "Nandabe Village".

　私はフィールドスタディという授業を履修しました。この授業で福島県の郡山市の『なんだべ村』にて8/27?29に農村ステイを行いました。

　農村ステイを通して地域の方々との交流が忘れられない経験になりました。特に東日本大震災についてディスカッションしたことが印象的でした。東日本大震災から12年経った今の福島の実情について話を聞きました。実際にお話を聞くと報道と現実の違いに気づかされました。メディアでは福島の危険性について伝えていたが、実際には違いました。震災を教訓として今後、風化させないためにも私達はどうするべきなのか考えさせられました。このディスカッションを通して私は震災の報道を鵜呑みにするのではなく、自分の目で見て聞くことの重要性を理解しました。

　さらに私たちは農業体験を通して地域の人と交流を深めました。農業体験では野菜の美味しさに気付きました。トマトを収穫してその場で食べた時、とてもみずみずしく美味いと実感しました。この収穫した野菜でピザやカレー、もちを作りました。自分たちで収穫した野菜を自分たちで調理し食べるという経験は、食事のありがたさが身に染みました。さらになんだべ村では都会では体験することのできない、自然にたくさん触れ合うことができました。
　この3日間は自分にとって一生忘れられない経験になったと言えます。そして地域の方々とコミュニケーションすることの楽しさを感じました。
なんだべ村での3日間はたくさん学んで、たくさん食べて、たくさん遊んだ3日間でした。なんだべ村、福島のことが大好きです。
